Love at first sight isn’t love. It’s limerence.
Limerence is a state of infatuation with and a longing for someone, with all-consuming passion and a dopamine rush.
There are 3 stages of limerence. The first stage is Attachment/Infatuation. During this stage, you’re uncovering each other’s personalities and developing an emotional connection. It’s attachment to this person, or rather, the idea of them, simply because you’re still getting to know them.

The second stage is Crystallization: white-hot passion and obsession. This is the love I’ve been waiting for my whole life. During this stage, you’re wearing rose-colored glasses and putting them in a box by choosing to ignore their worst traits and only looking at the good ones. It’s the halo effect–blinded by love.
The third stage is Deterioration. It’s when you abandon your morals and better judgment and make decisions based on the narrative you’ve created about them and your relationship.
There’s a difference between love and limerence, and oftentimes when you’re in a relationship, it can be hard to notice those differences. With all that being said, some zodiac signs fall in love at first sight, and might even confuse limerence for love:
Libra
Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, sex, and beauty. They’re hopeless romantics who look at life and love through rose-colored glasses. They romanticize the hell out of their relationships and their partner, even if the person is no good for them. They fall in love quickly and would willingly abandon their morals, values, and dreams if their partner asked them to. They are the kind of people who put their partner’s needs before their own, and that obsessive lovey behavior comes from someone who is in limerence.
Scorpio
If there’s one zodiac sign that is extremely possessive and obsessive over their romantic partners, it’s Scorpio. They’re incredibly passionate, intense, sensual lovers. When they set their sights on someone they find attractive, there is no way you can change their mind. ITheywill ignore the red flags and begin to envision and create a future with someone. For them, it’s often infatuation, not love.
Pisces
Pisceans are the dreamers of the zodiac. With that, they get a reputation for being “delusional.” They’re romantics and often look at life through rose-colored glasses. If they see someone attractive, they automatically jump into an “I’m in love with this person” mindset.
